Breed Overview

These little herding dogs originated in Sweden and were used as all-purpose farm dogs. These courageous dogs were helpful at herding cattle, controlling vermin, and fulfilling the role of watchdog. The Swedish Vallhund is active, alert, and eager to please. They are good with people and strangers so they make a great family pet. These dogs need a daily walk and would also benefit from a good play session each day. Their harsh coat only needs occasional brushing to remove dead hair.
