Description:
A type of genetic disorder that causes dwarfism with shortened limbs.
Achondroplasia is caused by a mutation of the gene that codes for FGFR3 (fibroblast growth factor receptor 3). FGFR3 relates to the development of brain and bone tissue and the mutation leads to irregular bone growth.
