Description: Also known as Red Mange or "demodex", this common skin condition is caused by the Demodex mite which causes mange. Animals have these mites naturally, however in small amounts. If the animal is predisposed to a larger number, it may cause this disease. It is thought to also be genetic and an immune system defect.
Symptoms: Typically lesions are found on the head and legs, but can quickly spread to other regions.
Diagnosis: Skin scrapings are used to diagnose this condition and treatments involve either antibacterial baths or topical lotions.
