Elbow Dysplasia

Description: An elbow condition that may affect one or both elbows due to improper development. Pain and lameness can arise due to this malformation of the elbow joint. May be caused by OCD.
Diagnosis: To diagnose this condition, x-rays are taken while the dog is anesthetized or sedated due to positioning requirements.
Treatment: Depending on the severity, medications, exercise programs, weight control, and in worse cases, surgery is used for treatment.
Costs can vary for treatment depending on price of medications in your area and surgery may be several hundred dollars.
