Description: Protein Losing Enteropathy - A non-specific term referring to dramatic loss of protein in the gastrointestinal tract. Maybe caused by gastrointestinal cancer, foreign bodies, parasites, fungal infections, viral or bacterial infections, or allergies.
Symptoms: Affected animals will experience weight loss and muscle wasting. May also exhibit signs related to the underlying cause.
Treatment: Treatment depends on the specific underlying cause(s). It may include diet changes, medication, steroid therapy, or surgery.
