Description:
A neurological disorder in which the myelin protective sheath around the nerves break down, causing damage to the peripheral nerves in the body. In turn, the peripheral nerves in the body malfunction, causing weakness, loss of sensation, or pain. Chronic polyneuropathy is usually due to a defective immune response, but the cause is generally unknown.
Symptoms: Weakness, difficulty breathing, exercise intolerance, pain.
