Urinary Tract Infection

Description: An infection of the bladder or urinary tract which may be caused by several factors including diet, stress, age, or urolithiasis.
Symptoms: Symptoms include frequent urination, pain, bloody urine, urination outside the litter box, and straining to urinate.
Treatment: Infections are treated with antibiotics and pain medication in some cases as urinary tract infections are very painful for the animal. If left untreated, the infection may progress to kidney disease and kidney failure.
