Description: Also known as Red Mange or "demodex," this common skin condition is caused by Demodex mites, which cause mange. Animals have these mites naturally, but in small amounts. If your dog is predisposed to having a larger number, they may cause this disease. This condition is also thought to be genetic and an immune system defect.

What to Watch For: Typically lesions are found on the head and legs, but the disease can quickly spread to other regions.

Diagnosis: Skin scrapings are used to diagnose this condition.

Treatment: Either antibacterial baths or topical lotions are used to treat the condition.
