Description: An infection of the bladder or urinary tract which may be caused by diet, stress, age, or urolithiasis.

What to Watch For: Symptoms include frequent urination, pain, bloody urine, urination outside the litter box, and straining to urinate.

Treatment: Infections are treated with antibiotics and pain medication as urinary tract infections are very painful for animals. If left untreated, the infection can progress to kidney disease and kidney failure.
